Barbara's Gateway

Your best birdie opportunity of the day

Hole #1
Par 4 295 Yards

Barbara's Gateway

The first hole is a great starting hole. It gives you a chance to warm up with a short hole and probably one of your best birdie opportunities of your round...all before you head to the woodshed.

The Drive

On your uphill drive, there's lot's of room to the right even though it looks like there's no room from the tee box. Playing to the right is safer but trees surrounding the right side of the green may affect your approach. For long hitters, the green is driveable, but beware of the Scottish bumps and surrounding heather in front of the green. a 4- or 5-wood off the tee should be plenty for a fairly short shot into the green.

The Approach

If you dare to flirt with the left side of this fairway (woods and OB left), you'll have the best angle into the green. If you play safer to the right side of the fairway, you'll be challenged with a likely sidehill lie, blind shot into the green along with tree interference on the right side of the green. Judging your distance properly to the hole is of utmost important given the signficant length front to back of the green.

The Greeen

The green is a two-tiered green left to right. The left side of the green is the high side of the green with the right side being the low side.
